Purchasing a subscription and account related questions

Q: Do I really get access to ALL practice tests with any subscription?

A: Yes! Each and every subscription from 10-days through 365-days get access to all our tests. That's one of the things that sets us apart from the crowd. No need to buy access to each ASE area separately. Many technicians take more than one ASE test at a time and our service allows them to prepare to do this without the additional cost or aggravation of having to make separate purchases that end up costing more in the end.

Q: Where are all the practice tests?

A: When you log in you are taken directly to your Welcome page with your account profile information. You can make changes to your phone and email address on this page. To find your tests look for a new tab menu page named Your ASE Tests. All of your practice tests can be found there. Remember to log out when you have finished taking your practice tests. Logging out will help eliminate too many simultaneous logins to your account which may make the system think that your account is being shared which will lock your account.

Q: Which subscription is right for me?

A: First questions you have to ask yourself are what ASE tests you are facing and have you ever taken these particular tests before. Experienced ASE certified technicians taking a recertification test in one to two ASE areas can probably get by with a 10 to 30-day subscription. If you are taking 3 or more recertification tests then we highly recommend a 30 to 60-day subscription. If you have never taken the ASE tests that you are planning to take you should plan on more time to study. A general guide is if you are taking 2 to 3 ASE tests you would benefit most from a 30 to 90-day subscription. If you are taking 3 to 5 or more ASE tests you would benefit most from a 60 to 120-day subscription. Shops who have a few technicians that need to pass ASE tests throughout the year can benefit from a 6-month or 1-year subscription. The account can be used by one technician and then reassigned to another technician later. Remember, the longer the subscription, the lower it costs is per day! Failing even one of the ASE tests you are taking can pay for a single subscription to our ASE practice tests.

Q: How many different computers, tablets or smartphones can I use?

A: The quick answer is as many different devices as you would like to use. Our website and tests are designed to be compatible and format themselves to all computers, smartphones and tablets. Signing up on a specific device does not mean that you can only use that device throughout your subscription. We're ready for you wherever, whenever, and however you need us to be.

Q: I'm not getting any emails from asetestprep.com

A: An email confirmation/receipt should immediately arrive right after you sign up. Your test scores are also sent as soon as you finish a test and click the Finish Test button at the end. If these are not making it to you there are a few possibilities that you will need to investigate. First, when you signed up, you may have entered an invalid email account or your email inbox may be full. To verify this, once you log into the system go to your Welcome page and review your email address in your profile information. If your email address is correct then it is most likely that your email provider is blocking emails from us or your inbox is full. You can add asetestprep.com to your approved sender list which should clear up any email blocking issues. If this still doesn't work, then you may try entering an alternate email address in your account profile on your Welcome page.

Q: How does the Guarantee to Pass the Test work?

A: If you purchased a 30-day or longer standard specially priced subscription and regularly take our practice tests, we're very confident that you will pass your official ASE test. If you don't pass, submit your test scores document on our Contact Us page and choose between a 100% refund of your subscription price or a FREE up to 60-day extension of your membership.*
Qualifying for the guarantee: You must have completed and passed (with at least a 70%) at least 5 timed and 5 untimed tests in the ASE area in which you did not pass the official ASE test and are requesting an extension or refund. A practice test is not completed and registered in our system unless you click the blue "Finish Test" button at the end of the test. The 5 passing timed and untimed tests must also have been taken prior to the date that you took your failed official ASE test. Please allow 48 hours to process either of these requests. No requests will be processed without proper official ASE scores documentation. Refund or extension requests must be submitted within 30 days of taking your official ASE test.

Q: Is my credit card and personal information safe?

A: The answers are YES and YES. We've partnered with Stripe®, one of the best and most secure credit card processing companies on the internet. We do not collect or store any of your credit card information. Upon payment confirmation you can immediately log into your new account. Our website is protected with SSL encryption when you create your account. This is high level industry standard protection that ensures your personal information is safe when you use our website.

Q: What if I pass my ASE test before my subscription is over?

A: First of all let us be one of the first to say "Congratulations on passing your test"! This is our goal and we are very happy for you. If you pass the test early you can simply let your subscription expire. There's nothing to do. There are no pro-rated refunds for subscription time not used.

Q: What if my subscription expires before I take the official ASE test?

A: When you log in you will be taken directly to your Welcome page. Above your profile information you will see a date in red lettering when your subscription will expire. If your subscription expires before you're ready for it to, simply log into your account then go to the Get Started/Login page and choose the subscription plan you wish to purchase. You can also recognize if your account has expired if you log in and see the Welcome tab but not the Your ASE Tests tab. The Your ASE Tests tab only shows up during an active subscription period.

Q: What if I forgot my password?

A: First and most important, make sure that your email spam filter is not blocking emails from asetestprep.com. To retrieve your password click on the Get Started/Login page, then click on the Login to Your Account button. Below the login box you will see a link that reads Lost your password? Click this link and enter your username or email. You will receive an email with a link to reset your password. If you still have difficulty please send an email including your username and telephone number to support@asetestprep.com and we'll be happy to quickly get you up and going.

Q: I'm having trouble with the security images that are shown to me.

A: The security images provide a high level of security that makes it extremely difficult for automated computer programs to hack into your account. It's an industry standard and is the best protection we can offer. You won't see the images each and every time you log in. Sometimes just clicking the "I'm Not A Robot" box is enough. If other people attempt to get into your account, it may lock your access and make it very difficult for you to log into your account. Here is a tip that may help you with the security images.

  1. If you see various images, you will also see a question asking you to click on all images matching the question. Be sure to select all the images the question asks you to select.

Q: I can't log into my account because of multiple IP addresses.

A: Sharing of accounts is expressly prohibited. The system keeps track of the IP addresses that are used to log into your account. If too many unique IP addresses are used, the system will automatically lock you out of your account for a period of time. Please be sure to log out of your account before leaving the website.

Q: I was a previous customer and want to subscribe again.

A: Most technicians who've used our practice tests come back when it's time to take their next ASE test. To us it's the best form of flattery and we realize that we must be doing something right. If you want to subscribe again you can use the same email address and username you used the last time you subscribed. Upon resubscribing, the first step you should do is to log into your existing account. Next, visit the Getting Started page to select your new subscription level. You'll notice that all of your personal information is already filled out for you and all you will have to enter is your billing/credit card info in order to complete your purchase.

Q: Do you offer subscription lengths other than what is shown?

A: We strive to put together subscription packages that cover just about everything, but if you are interested in a different amount of time from our standard subscriptions, we will be happy to present you a quote. Simply use the Custom Subscription Length form and let us know how long of a period you would like. We will send you a price. If the price is agreeable to you, we will send you an electronic invoice to pay via PayPal®. Once paid, we will create your account and send your log in information right away. We're here to help you in any way possible because we want nothing more than for you to succeed!

Q: How are refunds handled?

A: If you are due a refund of any kind, all refunds must be paid electronically to the account you used to pay for your subscription. If your payment account is no longer active, the only other option is that we will send you a postal money order. If we must send a postal money order, we will deduct a service fee of $5.00 per refund. We are an internet business and strive to handle all transactions electronically.

Q: Why can't my subscription payment be processed?

A: Most of the time when a subscription payment fails, it's because the credit card information is incorrect or your financial institution has declined the transaction.

Declines can happen for a variety of reasons. When we submit a charge to your bank, they have automated systems that determine whether or not to accept the charge. These systems take various signals into account, such as your spending habits, account balance, and card information like the expiration date and CVC.

Since these signals are constantly changing, a previously successful card might be declined in the future. Even if all of the card information is correct, and you previously had a successful payment, a future charge can still be declined by a bank’s overzealous fraud systems.

If you are having trouble processing your subscription payment, we recommend using an alternate credit card. We are happy to attempt to manually process your card by calling us during normal business hours. Unfortunately we cannot accept cash, checks, or money orders as payment for your subscription.

 

ASE Certification & practice test questions

Q: Can I get ASE Certified without work experience?

A: Anyone can take an ASE test. However, if you don't have at least 2 years of on the job training/work experience or 1 year of on the job training and a 2 year degree in automotive repair, you won't be certified when you pass the test. For those wanting to become an ASE Certified technician, we recommend that you receive formal training/education. If you don't have any experience, we suggest taking the G1 test. Once you pass, you can take your test scores to an automotive repair shop. They will be more likely to hire you if you show them you've already passed your first test. Then you can get your work experience and start getting your certifications towards becoming ASE Master Certified.

Q: How long do I need to study to be ready for my ASE test?

A: Everyone is different and you know what works best for you. Studies show that the more time you invest in studying and practicing, the better the outcome. This is true of many things but especially true of taking the ASE test. This is why we require you to take and pass at least 5 timed and 5 untimed practice tests to qualify for our guarantee. This will allow you to be exposed to most of the content in the particular ASE area you are studying. Don’t make the same mistake some technicians do by signing up for a subscription a few days before you take the official test and only taking a few practice tests. It’s highly likely that you won’t pass. Invest a little time in your future and chances are you’ll be successful!

To increase your chances of success we suggest the following strategy:

  1. Take our untimed tests until you can pass at least 5 times in a row with at least a 70% score. Take your time to read and understand the explanations at the end of each question.
  2. Take our timed tests until you can pass at least 5 times in a row with at least a 70% score.
  3. If you fail even one practice test along the way, start the process over from the beginning.
  4. Continue to take timed practice tests right up until you take your actual ASE test. It doesn't cost any more to take more tests so you might as well use your subscription.

Q: Are the practice test questions the same questions on the official ASE test?

A: No. That would be illegal and improper. Our test questions are written to simulate the same problems and challenges contained in the official ASE test. Our practice test questions are very similar to the ASE test and if you study the explanations for correct and incorrect answers, you will know the material and be able to recall it during your ASE test.

Q: What if I have a question and need to call?

A: Our website is designed to be efficient and self service. Most questions can be answered with our FAQ's or through a form submission on our Contact Us page. Our normal support hours are Monday through Friday 8AM to 6PM Eastern Standard time. We monitor all form and email submissions 7 days a week. Our TOLL FREE number is 1-844-ASE-TEST (1-844-273-8378). If you have a question that requires a voice call and we aren't available, you can either leave us a voice message, send an email to support@asetestprep.com, or use one of the forms on our Contact Us page, and one of our support team members will be in contact with you. We respond very quickly to questions submitted through our forms system.

Q: What if I find what I believe is an error in any of your practice tests?

A: We work hard to give you the best practice tests. If you feel that part of a question or answer is not correct, do the following. 1. Copy the question word for word, open the Speak Out form, and paste the question into the Describe your experience box. Also include what ASE area the question was found in and don't forget to include a description of why you feel it is incorrect. Our ASE test experts will review your information and determine if a change is necessary.

*Refund does not apply to the cost you incurred to take the official ASE test. Only 30-day and longer standard subscriptions are eligible for the FREE up to 60-day extension or full refund. Only 1 refund or extension allowed per eligible paid subscription. You must have completed and passed (with at least a 70%) a minimum of 5 timed and 5 untimed practice tests in the ASE area in which you did not pass the official ASE test and are requesting an extension or refund. The 5 passing timed and untimed tests must have been taken prior to the date that you took your failed official ASE test. A practice test is not completed and registered in our system unless you click the blue "Finish Test" button at the end of the test. Group, 10-day, and custom subscriptions are not eligible for the Pass The ASE Test Guarantee. Refund or extension requests must be submitted within 30 days of taking your official ASE test. Official test scores document must be submitted along with your request. Only Automotive Series ASE tests qualify for the guarantee. Please allow up to 48 business hours to process your request.
